How to get verified on Facebook is a question we’re often asked – and it can be suprisingly easy as well as a great way to establish credibility online. The verification can apply to both big and small businesses and helps people to know that you’re authentic whilst also helping your page appear higher in search results.

You may have noticed that there are two different coloured verification badges amongst different Facebook pages, so you’ll need to apply for the right one. Which one is right for your business?

Blue verification badge: This one applies to a large brand, public figure or media company.

Grey verification badge: This one applies to smaller organisations or local businesses.

How to get verified on Facebook

How to verified on Facebook (your business Page)

Not every Page will be verified so there are a few things that you need to ensure in order for your Facebook Page to be accepted. It is also important to note that Page verification can be revoked at any time by Facebook.

Stay up to date

Make sure that your company information is kept up to date. Facebook checks this information prior to granting a verification badge, so if your page looks great but your information isn’t correct – it won’t help you!

Ensure the basic information is filled in:

  • Website address
  • Email address
  • Your company description
  • Your company bio

The more details you can fill out, the better. Make sure that you’ve filled out all the whole ‘About’ section with any business detail.

Keep it professional

When posting content to your Facebook page, ensure that what you post is on-brand related and reflects good upon your business. Your page should portray a good image of what your business is about and should easily be identifiable to your business.

Anything that jeopardises your brand should not be posted – keep a close eye on the content you use as Facebook could use this to determine whether you will be verified or not.

Use correct outside links

Sounds simple but your Facebook page information should include a link directly to your business website and your website should include a link directly back to Facebook. This detail in required for Facebook to approve your verification request.

Now you can apply for verification

Once you have ensured all the above is correct and in place, you can apply to be verified.

These are the steps you will need to take:

  1. Click on Settings at the top of your Facebook Page
  2. From the General menu, click the Page Verification selection
  3. Click on Verify this Page, then Get Started
  4. Choose the “instant” or “more detailed” verification process
  5. Once Facebook receives your validation they will review and either confirm or deny your request. This process usually takes anywhere between 48 hours to a month to happen.

And that’s it! The key is to ensure that all your business information is in place (and correct) prior to starting the verification process.
