Instagram has over 800 millions users
With over 800 million monthly users, Instagram is definitely a platform that you should be tapping into. It is the 3rd most used social platform, coming in behind Facebook and YouTube with a whopping 500 million daily users.
80% of users are outside the US
We may associate the large user numbers with larger countries, like America, however Instagram stats from a recent statista report shows that 80% of users are outside of the U.S. After the U.S. with over 88 million monthly active users, the report found that Russia, Brazil, Turkey, the U.K., Poland, Canada, France, and Japan all have more than 10 million active users which means that our businesses have a great opportunity to reach out to their ideal audience.
People are spending more time on Instagram
Since the release of Instagram Stories in 2016, people have been spending more time on the network. Users under 25 spend more than 32 minutes a day on the platform and users over 25 spend more than 24 minutes a day. Users love the stories function and according to Instagram over 300 million people use it daily.
Instagrammers love sharing
With the growing number of people using Instagram, the number of posts being shared is also increasing. There are currently around 95 million posts a day being shared. This can only get better as the platform grows and the amount of images available increase. As well as sharing, the number of ‘likes’ are also growing with an Instagram report in 2016 stating that users ‘like’ 4.2 billion posts a day – an extremely high percentage in relation to their 500 million active users.
Instagram video is on the rise
When the video feature was added to Instagram in 2013, 5 million videos were uploaded in its first day! Wow! Ever since then the numbers have continued to grow. Individuals and businesses are using the video feature to capture real-life, real emotion in order to engage with their audience.
